Talking AI avatar vs AI character in real video: which one you need

7 min read

A talking AI avatar is a generated presenter who reads your script to the camera, which is what a scripted ad needs. An AI character in real video, like the AI influencers on Duble AI, takes someone's place in a video that already exists, in the original's scene (which may change a little) and with the original sound, which is what a trend needs. Searches for "AI influencer" turn up both.

Duble AI is our product, and this page compares what each tool documents. We ran no side-by-side test.

What a talking AI avatar does

HeyGen is a platform for talking avatars and video translation. Its "AI Influencer Generator" delivers a presenter who speaks from a script, with an AI voice, translation and lip sync (HeyGen, page read October 13, 2026). Creatify has a page with the same name and builds its "AI influencer" from a text prompt (Creatify). That is why the two ideas get mixed up.

Other tools of the same kind, each as its own page describes it:

  • Arcads: UGC-style video ads with more than 1,000 AI actors and localization in more than 30 languages (arcads.ai).
  • Creatify: video ads made from a product's web address, with more than 1,500 avatars and more than 75 languages (creatify.ai).
  • MakeUGC: UGC ad videos with AI actors and custom avatars (makeugc.ai).
  • Captions: a mobile video editor with captions, dubbing, AI actors and AI avatars (captions.ai).

What these tools generally do is put an AI person on screen to say the words you chose. Duble AI does not do that.

What an AI character in real video does

On Duble AI you pick the influencer and the video, and the AI remakes the video with your influencer in place of whoever is in it. The video can be a trend from the library or one of your own, from 3 to 30 seconds long. The movement and the sound are the original's, and the scene comes from the video. You write no script and no prompt, and you pay by the second of video.

The app calls the influencer a double. You can describe one in a sentence, build it part by part, make it from your own photos or take a ready-made one from the cast. How to create an AI influencer walks through all four.

Duble AI makes no voice and no video from text. When someone speaks or sings in the original video, the double's mouth follows that voice, and the sound that comes out is the video's own. The whole video is redrawn, and the scene may change a little.

What each costs in October 2026

The prices below are in US dollars, as each tool's page showed them on October 13, 2026. HeyGen, Creatify, MakeUGC and Captions sell monthly subscriptions with a set number of credits. Duble AI sells credits that are worth seconds of video, in reais in Brazil and in dollars elsewhere.

Tool Plan with no charge First paid plan Source
HeyGen $0: 3 videos a month, up to 1 minute Creator, $29 a month ($24 billed annually): 600 credits, videos up to 30 minutes, 1080p, no watermark heygen.com/pricing
Creatify $0: 10 credits, exports watermarked Starter, $39 a month: 100 credits, videos up to 2 minutes creatify.ai/pricing
MakeUGC None; there is a $1 trial Starter, $29 a month billed yearly: 500 credits, 480p and 720p makeugc.ai/pricing
Captions No AI credits Max, $24.99 a month: 500 credits (the page shows iOS plans) captions.ai/pricing
Arcads Not found Not found: arcads.ai/pricing returned a 404 on October 13, 2026 arcads.ai
Duble AI Creating the influencer costs nothing, up to 3 images across tries and adjustments; videos cost credits A $19.99 monthly plan (100 credits, 5 ten-second trend videos) or a $29.99 one-time pack Duble AI's catalog

Creatify's own features page says "from $19/month" in places, so check the number on the day. MakeUGC does not show month-to-month prices.

On Duble AI, one second of video at Standard quality is 2 credits, which comes to $0.33 on the 300-credit plan. A 10-second trend is $3.33.

With the avatar tools, the plan gives a set number of credits a month, and how many videos fit in it depends on how many credits each video uses. On Duble AI, every new video also uses credits, and when a video fails or is refused the credits go back at once.

When a talking avatar is the right tool

  • The video has to say a text of yours: an offer, a price, an instruction.
  • It has to come out in other languages. Arcads cites more than 30 and Creatify more than 75.
  • It is long. HeyGen takes videos up to 30 minutes on Creator and up to 60 on Business, and Creatify up to 2 minutes on Starter and up to 10 on Pro. On Duble AI the longest video is 30 seconds.
  • It starts from a product: Creatify builds the ad from the product's web address.

In those cases Duble AI does not replace any of them.

When an AI character in real video is the right tool

  • You want to post trends with their original sound. How to make AI trend videos shows the steps.
  • You want a face that comes back: the same influencer, in other looks and photos, across different videos.
  • You have a video of your own and want the influencer in your place: replace a person in a video.

The video is short, 3 to 30 seconds, and whoever speaks in it is the original video.

What about an AI twin of myself?

A version of you that reads a script is the job of a custom avatar, which tools such as MakeUGC list among their features. Duble AI can also start from your photos: the influencer resembles you, is not sold as a perfect copy, and with only a face photo the body is made up. Send only photos of yourself or of people who gave permission. Making an AI influencer from your photo covers what to send.

Can I use both?

Yes. A profile can use its influencer in the daily trends and a talking avatar in an ad with a fixed script. If the ad is your influencer holding your product with no script read aloud, see AI UGC videos with a product in hand. To compare more generators by job, see AI influencer generators.

Which one to pick

Pick a talking avatar if the video has to say a text of yours or come out in another language.

Pick Duble AI if the video is a trend or the face has to come back from video to video. To start, create your influencer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an AI avatar and an AI influencer?
A talking avatar is a generated presenter who reads your script to the camera. An AI influencer on Duble AI is a character that takes someone's place in a real video, follows its movement, keeps its sound and is in its scene, which may change a little. One speaks words you write. The other remakes a video that already exists.
Can I make my AI influencer read a script?
Not on Duble AI. The app makes no voice and no video from text. When someone speaks or sings in the original video, your double's mouth follows that voice and the sound stays the video's own. For a script read to camera, a talking-avatar tool is the right kind of tool.
Is an AI twin the same as an AI influencer?
A twin or clone of yourself that talks is the job of a custom avatar, which tools such as MakeUGC list. An influencer made on Duble AI from your photos resembles you, is not sold as a perfect copy and has no voice of yours. With only a face photo, the body is made up.
Which one should I use for ads?
For an ad where someone has to say your words, a talking-avatar tool such as HeyGen, Creatify or Arcads is built for it. For an ad with a recurring character in a trend, or holding your product with no script read aloud, Duble AI fits. You can use both.
How much do talking-avatar tools cost?
As of October 2026, according to each one's pricing page, HeyGen's Creator plan is $29 a month, Creatify's Starter is $39 and MakeUGC starts at $29 a month billed yearly. A 10-second trend video on Duble AI comes to $3.33 on the larger plan. The two are billed differently, so the numbers do not compare directly.
