Duble AI (Dublê) vs Seedance 2.5: which one to use

7 min read

Seedance 2.5 is a general video model from ByteDance that creates scenes from text and references and, the company says, edits clips too; Duble AI (Dublê) does one job: it puts your character into a video that already exists, such as a trend, and keeps the original sound. For a scene that does not exist yet, use Seedance 2.5; for a trend or a clip of your own with another character in the person's place, use Duble AI.

This page describes the field as of October 20, 2026. Duble AI is our product. Each statement about Seedance comes from a page of ByteDance, Dreamina or BytePlus, linked where it appears, and nobody ran a side-by-side test.

Duble vs Seedance 2.5: what does each one do?

Seedance 2.5 starts from a description and reference files (images, videos, audio) and generates a video with sound. Duble AI starts from a finished video and changes who appears in it. Both end with a character on screen, but the starting point and the work left to you are different. The wider split between these two kinds of tool is in text-to-video vs character swap.

In Duble AI your character (the app calls it a double) comes from a description, from your photos or from the cast. You pick a trend from the library or send an MP4 or MOV of 3 to 30 seconds, and the app returns the video with your character in the person's place, with the movement and sound of the original. The app creates no music and no voice, and it never makes a video from text. The scene can change a little, and the result is not a frame-for-frame copy.

What does ByteDance document about Seedance 2.5?

ByteDance Seed's announcement, dated July 31, 2026, describes these capabilities:

  • audio-video clips of up to 30 seconds in one pass, with several extension rounds for longer videos;
  • up to 30 images, 10 video clips and 10 audio clips as references in one generation (Dreamina says up to 50 references);
  • audio and video generated together and in sync, with audio also accepted as a reference;
  • timestamp-level control, changes to characters, actions or plot in specific clips, and camera and reference-based editing.

The announcement does not state a resolution, a price or regions. For the details of references and editing, see the Seedance 2.5 guide and the comparison of AI video models in 2026.

Where can I use Seedance 2.5, and what does it cost?

Most people use Seedance 2.5 through a subscription app or a third-party platform. Seed says it is rolling out in Jimeng and Doubao Pro. Dreamina's launch post, dated July 31, offers it to subscriber accounts of people over 16 in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America. Brazil is not named, and the press release says availability may vary by market.

For developers, BytePlus said on August 6, 2026 that the model is on ModelArk and on platforms such as Higgsfield and Runway. It also says BytePlus is not available in the United States.

On price, the Dreamina press release names a launch offer from $0.097 per second for new subscribers to an annual plan. The regular price of each plan and BytePlus's rates (it bills by token) are not in the pages we read, so we give no numbers for them. In Duble AI, 10 seconds at Standard quality cost 30 credits, which is $4.44 a video on the larger monthly plan; see how much Duble AI costs.

What is Seedance 2.5 Flash, and when does it come out?

Seedance 2.5 Flash has a page on Dreamina, but ByteDance Seed has published nothing about it, and no release date is confirmed. Dreamina's Flash page calls it a speed-optimized edition of Seedance 2.5 and says it is coming soon as a worldwide-first launch on Dreamina. The same page also gives instructions for using it, so it contradicts itself on whether it is available.

The page gives no developer, date, price, resolution or length for Flash. Seed's model list, checked on October 20, 2026, shows only Seedance 2.5, and Seed's announcement, Dreamina's launch post and BytePlus's post do not mention Flash. We cannot say what Flash does, what it costs or when it arrives.

Has ByteDance announced a next model?

We found no announcement of a named successor. Seed's July 31 post says only that the team will keep exploring more coherent storytelling, a more intuitive generation and editing experience, and a deeper grasp of real-world physics. The same post promised API access "soon" through BytePlus, and BytePlus announced it on August 6. Anything else about future versions is not in the official sources.

Can Seedance 2.5 replace a character in my video?

The official pages describe editing characters in parts of a video, with timestamp and reference control, but they do not use the phrase character swap. You write the instructions and supply the references for each video. Two things deserve a look before you rely on it:

  • Real faces. BytePlus says image or video inputs with real faces are restricted by technical controls in its API, with exceptions for verified clients with likeness authorization. A trend almost always has real people in it. Dreamina's launch post does not address this.
  • Sound. Seed describes audio generated with the picture. The official pages we read do not say whether an edit keeps the original soundtrack of your video.

Which one for which job?

I want Use Why
A scene that does not exist, described in words Seedance 2.5 Duble AI does not create scenes
A long video with many references and new sound Seedance 2.5 Takes many references and generates audio
A trend with my character and the original song Duble AI The trend is the starting video
My own video with another character in my place Duble AI Your movement and scene stay
The same character in many videos without redoing references Duble AI The character is made once and reused
Changing only one moment or detail of my video Seedance 2.5 Timestamp editing, per ByteDance

The two can work together: a clip made in another tool is just a video file, and you can send it to Duble AI as your own video if that tool's terms allow it. The steps are in how to replace a person in a video of your own and AI trend videos; other swap tools are compared in AI character swap tools.

The character has to be yours, invented or from someone who agreed, never a celebrity, and the video should be labeled as AI-made when the platform asks. To make a trend video with your own character, create your character.

Frequently asked questions

Is Duble AI better than Seedance 2.5?
They do different jobs, so neither is better at everything. Seedance 2.5 is a general model that creates scenes from text and references and, according to ByteDance, edits clips. Duble AI only puts your character into a video that already exists, such as a trend, and keeps the original sound.
What is Seedance 2.5 Flash?
Dreamina has a page for Seedance 2.5 Flash, described as a speed-optimized edition of Seedance 2.5 that is coming soon. The page gives no date, price or specifications, and ByteDance Seed's model list and announcement do not mention Flash. As of October 20, 2026, its release is not confirmed.
Can Seedance 2.5 swap a character in my video?
ByteDance says Seedance 2.5 can change characters, actions or plot in specific clips, with timestamp-level control and reference-based editing. Its official pages do not call this a character swap, and you write the instructions and supply the references. Duble AI covers only that task: you pick the video and the character.
Does Seedance 2.5 keep the original sound of a video I edit?
ByteDance describes audio and video generated together, and audio accepted as a reference. The pages we read do not say what an edit does with the original soundtrack, so check the mode you use. In Duble AI the sound is always the original video's, and the app creates no music or voice.
Does Duble AI make video from a text prompt like Seedance?
No. Every Duble AI video puts your character into a video that already exists: a trend from the library or a clip of your own, 3 to 30 seconds long. The scene comes from that video, and no text invents one. For a scene that does not exist yet, a text-to-video model fits better.
Where can I use Seedance 2.5 and what does it cost?
ByteDance says it is in Jimeng and Doubao, and Dreamina offers it to subscribers. It is also in the BytePlus API and on platforms such as Higgsfield and Runway. Dreamina's launch offer started at $0.097 per second for new annual subscribers. Check the current price on each service's own page.
