Luma Dream Machine vs Duble AI: restyle a shot or replace its actor?
3 min read
Luma Dream Machine's Modify Video is worth evaluating when you want broader changes to a recorded shot, such as a different visual treatment or environment. Duble AI offers a focused character-replacement workflow for short recordings. Both work with existing footage, so “one generates and the other edits” is not a useful description of this comparison.
Duble AI is our product. We reviewed official Luma documentation on November 1, 2026 and did not generate comparison samples. Feature availability and limits should be checked in the current account; older release notes are dated product history.
Where do the workflows overlap?
Luma's Modify Video guide documents video transformation guided by footage, instructions and optional visual reference. Its Modify with Instructions announcement, dated August 12, 2025, describes changes to objects, settings and characters. This is a broader editing category than only changing who appears.
| Your intended change | Workflow to evaluate |
|---|---|
| Restyle the whole shot | Luma Modify Video |
| Change an environment or another visual element | Luma's documented modification features |
| Put a reusable character into a short performance | Duble AI or a suitable video-modification tool |
| Keep a reference recording's sound | Both document this for the compared workflows |
| Add exact prices and subtitles | An editor after generation |
The Luma guide explicitly states that modified videos retain original audio. We therefore do not claim that keeping source sound is unique to Duble AI. Audio behavior should still be verified for the exact operation you use.
Decide how much of the scene should change
For a visual treatment, define the whole shot: wardrobe, environment, texture and movement. A broad modification tool is the relevant category when several elements must change together. Keep a written list of what should remain recognizable so you can review the output against the brief.
For a recurring influencer, the main requirement may instead be identity. You already like the action and sound and want your character to perform it. A focused process can reduce the decisions you need to make, but that does not establish a quality advantage over a broader tool.
Luma's documentation discusses different degrees of transformation. Do not interpret a setting's label as a guarantee that everything outside the named edit remains identical. Watch the whole result for unwanted changes, especially around contact between people and objects.
What does Duble AI offer for the identity task?
Choose a library trend or upload an authorized video of 3 to 30 seconds. Select the reusable character and person to replace, choose quality and review the consumption before generating. The existing recording supplies the performance.
Duble AI keeps the original recording's sound and generates no new voice or music. It does not make video scenes from text or provide a general instruction to redesign the environment. The person replacement guide explains preparation, while motion control clarifies the related techniques.
Check the full output through turns and occlusions. A useful first frame does not prove that identity remains acceptable throughout the clip. If the source is very busy, pick a clearer take before committing to a client delivery. Character consistency covers that recurring-content problem.
Compare the actual operation and bill
Read the current Luma plan and the limit shown for the chosen model and operation. We do not apply the duration or credit rates in an older announcement to every current Dream Machine feature. API access is a separate route, documented by Luma's Modify Video reference.
Duble AI Standard video uses 5 credits per second; ten seconds uses 50. There is no free video generation, and purchased credits never expire. Use the pricing guide for current purchases and compare the same required duration and quality.
After approving generation, keep the downloaded image and sound paired. Finish exact text in an editor and review the exported file. The AI video tool directory places these options alongside scene generators, presenters and editing tools.
Frequently asked questions
- Can Luma edit footage that already exists?
- Yes. Its official Modify Video documentation describes transforming existing footage. This comparison does not treat it as only text-to-video.
- Is Duble AI the only one that retains source audio?
- No. The Luma Modify Video guide also documents retained original audio. Check the exact operation you use.
- Does Duble AI redesign the whole environment from a prompt?
- No. Its video process focuses on putting your character into an existing recording or trend, with the original sound.
